When and where did you win your junior world championships?
1999 – Kansas City, MO/KS (Age 15)

What is a lasting memory from when you won your junior championship?
While it’s been 18 years since that event, I can still remember it like it was yesterday. I really cherish the times that I had with the other players. I mean we were all kids having fun, of course we wanted to win, but at the end of the day fun was the thing on all of our minds. I will also never forget how hot it was that year… Oh and of course humid. 100+ for many of the days. We don’t get to many of those in Santa Cruz.

What is your best tip for a junior who wants to compete at the highest level?
The best advice I could give any player of any age is to have a positive outlook and have fun. Ask yourself one question… Have you ever played your best when mad? Now of course it is possible but life is too short to not enjoy what you are doing. Stay positive, and have fun, everything else will shake out on its own.
